Received an email yesterday to say my 4 rootstocks have been dispatched. Looks like I'll be getting an early Christmas present.

I should have some apple wood from the usual Aldi suspects, the 3 new trees and I have my eye on what I think is a spartan at a customers.

I bought one of those tools last year and tried a few grafts onto some existing trees, four out of five were successful. It doesn't work too well if you can't match the diameters of the rootstock and scion though.

It will get a good outing this year, having recently ordered over 50 rootstocks of various types.

I also did some grafts on a grapevine this year and three from three took, all was well until the "muppet" my wife called in to mow the grass decided he would trim the vine for us and cut two of them off.
