Title: Sorting out my plot ?
Post by: nicklord1 on September 08, 2008, 22:33
Hi i have 2 plots  to sort out . one is shady  the other has direct sunlight. Shall i  first do a ph tester  , then clear some of the pebbles and rake it , then put  top soil on in a few weeks .

Then what

How much top soil  ? etc

Do i water the soil or just make sure its clear of all weeds  so  rake it  weekly.

Thank you for your time and help to a beginners

in my opinion there is not much point doing a ph test if you are then going to add different soil to it, you may as well do the test afterwards.

What state is your plot(s) in at the moment (fairly clear/full of weeds/brambles?). Can you post some photos.

Do you garden organically or are you happy to use chemicals ie. weed killer.

I wouldn't have thought you'd need to water much at the moment! Rotted manure may be better than expensive topsoil as well.
