No... now I remember it was Dizzie Lizzie not Grannie.  So a couple more in the sun!  hope your blue eared VW is now settled in and is she laying yet and if so what colour are her eggs.  Bet they aren't blue!

Here are my girls - had them 9 mths now - pictures I took when I first got them........

And now, here they are all ready for a cosy night inside their heated hen-house..............

For some reason, they never sleep on the perching bars - they prefer the floor

Staffies are softer than you think.

It's only a self-regulating 120W heater designed for sheds and works from a thermostat which is set to 5°C.
It helps keeps the damp/condensation down and also takes the chill out of the air in the extreme cold we've had this winter.

I also 'winterised' the run for them in november to protect them from the wind, rain, frost and snow but still with plenty of ventilation. I used transparent corrugated roofing sheets on the cage sides (run already has upvc roof) which are held on with butterfly nuts, so in the summer I can quickly remove and store them.

Probably treat 'em too well     But egg production has continued unaffected with an average of 2 eggs per day right through the winter.

Thought I would update my Pics from those I first posted back on page 29 of this thread.

Tikka and Peri are no longer with us, both were into Extreme Free Ranging and unfortunatley paid the price  :(

So we now have ( from Left to right )

Mandy, Lilly the Leghorn, Betty, Amy and Biscuit.

oh and the green stuff in front of the shed in one of the images on page 29 is Grass...which aint there now...

Queen Victoria is the head chicken as one would expect.  She was the first to eat out of our hands and is much braver than the others.  She also chatters all the time and it seems to be her who decides when they go to bed.  Must take some more photos now I have worked out how to post them.
