Title: roast tatties

I buy 1 mag a month , they are pricey and with each edition I find recipies on how to achieve he perfect roast potato  and the best crumble recipie , each cook prog also is pushinhg the roast potato . I never knew there were so many ways are there any recipies you think have been done to death ,

My mum always boiled the potatoes first and then deep fried them, best "roast" potatoes I've not tasted any better yet

What surprises me is that there still seem to be so many folk who cannot cook decent roasties.  :blush:  With all those recipes about, both in mags and on TV, it makes me wonder .........

I steam them for just 10 minutes, then put them in the bottom pan of the steamer(emptied of water) add veg oil, put the lid on and shake vigourously - they should now have  a fluffed up oiled outer, into a roasting pan into the oven and cook for 35-45 minutes until perfect.
the type of potato used makes a big difference, maris pipers are good using this method- or king Edwards.

I`m a parboil , drain, shake and roll in semolina man !

King Edwards, par boil, drain, rough up and cool for 10 - 20 mins.

Into really hot goose fat, shake and roast.  ;)

were all doing much the same thing , I just get to the point where I carnt look at another roast potato , I think its just a Christmas thing .

Pasta! there are so many ways..............when they start cooking it with chocolate  ::) you know they've run out of ideas  :D

ha ha ,I think its time to get back to basics its all getting to complicated all these weird and wonderful things to put in recipes most of which get left in the cupboard and go out of date .
