Title: Does anyone raise heritage chickens for meat?
Post by: mattmac on June 23, 2021, 18:22
The title says the question really. Does anyone raise heritage chickens for meat?

I've been thinking of raising some meat chickens but want to avoid the modern Ross varieties that most people raising broilers seem to buy.

Would love to hear some experiences of raising heritage breeds for meat, is it at all feasible? What breeds would you recommend? What age did you harvest at?

I haven’t raised chickens for meat, but John (the site owner) has an article on it mentioning several breeds which may help.
