Love the quilt, lucky stig.

My most recent crafting was some knitted Christmas decorations for eldest granddaughter who is in the navy and deployed until March 22.

Very nice, is it to go on your bed or as a wall hanging?

Yesterday, while in the roof collecting the Christmas decs, I found all the wool which was part of a tapestry I bought for Mrs Growster many years ago, and we had given up for lost! The original tapestry on a home made - ahem - frame is still half-finished, and I wanted to do a Clint Eastwood and finish it!

The trouble is, that I've bought her a new tapestry for the big day, so can't tell her the good news until afterwards!

My new project is refurbishing an electric guitar, plus three other ones, but as the kit is a present, I can't start until Christmas Day...

Very nice Mum, she’s a lucky girl & im sure she’ll treasure it & snuggle up to it & think of your love when she feels a bit homesick.

The things that are home-made either for decoration, made with love to make you happy, or something to curl up with are so precious. No matter how young or old you are they will always be treasured and remembered. My great-niece made me a bead bracelet on an elasticated band for my birthday using a kit. I love it!
I work very hard so don't expect me to think as well.

I got a crochet pattern for a three-quarter length sleeved cardigan and the wool to go with it, but am afraid my crochet days are over and there's no way I can manage it. Is it possible to alter the pattern so I can knit it instead?

I have never been able to crochet, I have even had a tutor sit  behind me and guide my hands, as soon as she moved away I lost it again.  I can knit for England, machine (I'm wearing a 35 year old jumper that I knitted on my machine today). I can do cable, Arran and Fairisle.

I used to crochet those fine cotton mats and also mats where you made individual motifs then joined them together but, sadly, I can't do it now. I managed to find a free cardigan pattern on-line so am now hand knitting it. I used to knit Aran, Fair Isle and other intricate patterns but am now opting for the easier version. It does have a pattern with different coloured wools but I'm just doing stripes.
