just wondering does anyone know if its possible to grow sweetcorn from the tinned stuff?

mumofstig - I once threw some pressure cooked leftover chickpeas onto the compost heap and they sprouted! So presumably cooking doesn't always kill seeds.

I stand corrected............I know that some seed is programmed to germinate after forest fires,
but... would have thought that the cooking process and then being in water/salt in an airtight tin would have put paid to any signs of life :lol: :lol:

I quite agree with you, I cannot possibly see canned corn sprouting for all fo the reasons that I mentioned, but I thought that I'd just throw in my chickpea story as a get out in case anything actually happens!

Might have more success sowing stewed prunes, but you must make sure they are plumb centre of the planting hole!  :tongue2:
