How many fruit bushes/trees
« on: February 11, 2009, 07:29 »
How many fruit bushes/trees does everyone have?

Here is my list.......

11 Raspberrie Canes
1 Blackcurrant Bush
1 Redcurrant Bush
1 Blackcurrant Cordon
1 Redcurrant Cordon
1 Whitecurrant Cordon
5 Blueberry Bushes
1Tayberry
1 Apple Tree
1 Plumb Tree
1 Cherry Tree
1 Fig Tree
All the above are in the fruit cage

Bottom of plot (1)
3 Gooseberry Bushes,  these are old bushes (still lots of fruit) but will be taken out when Espalliers get established.

Top of plot (2)
2 Green Gooseberries,  training as Espallier
1 Red  Gooseberry,          ''               ''
1 Blackberry, training along wire
1 Step-over  Bramley Apple.

Have just ordered a Nectrine, not sure how they grow in this country but thought I'd give it a go.

There is no better show of antisipation than a man sowing seeds in a field.

I have some goosberries in the fruit cage that came with the house, more than I need.
I will take out a couple of the goosgogs, leaving me with three and about 3/4 of the fruit cage for 3 blackcurrants and 3x3 types of rasberries. That will leave me with 6 blackcurrants and 21 rapberries to go on the lottie.
A blackcurrant and a redcurrant outside the cage so I never see anything off them. They can stay for the birds though, as I don't need that space, it has comfrey too anyway.
Oh, and a selection of senile apple trees at home too, a plum and a couple of pear trees, one of which is getteng the shop. I have thornless blackcurrants too, but they are tasteless compared to the brambles, and I've got quite a few of those too.  ::)  :nowink:
I demand the right to buy seed of varieties that are not "distinct, uniform and stable".
