Title: White crystals in my crabapple.
Post by: Kleftiwallah on December 19, 2010, 14:47
I was told, many moons ago that it was nothing to worry about, in fact it was a sign the wine 'was a cracker' !  :tongue2:  Anyone care to remind my the technical name of these crystals?  I've also been told they appear in  'a cracking cheese'  (grommet) !  :D  Cheers,   Tonmy.

Most likely tartrate (potassium hydrogen tartrate) - harmless but decant as they aren't very tasty.

Thanks for that Swing Swang,  I've found the same in cheese, followed it up and same chemical.  Cheers,   Tony.
