heating greenhouse
« on: February 05, 2016, 21:30 »
Hi  anyone any ideas which is better to either heat the whole greenhouse over night or install a heated sand bed / heat mat so I can start my seeds earlier. I have a 10 x 8 glass greenhouse , if heating the greenhouse is best what type of heater as I have read some bad reports  about paraffin heaters being tricky and sooting up the insides of the greenhouse and electric heaters can be expensive to run so any thoughts would be helpful. thanks Bernard

Heating the whole of a 10x8 greenhouse for a few seedlings will be expensive and not particularly environmentally friendly.

I would buy a roll of bubble wrap and fashion a small inner tent and heat that with a hat mat, then expand it as and when you need to.  You can buy roofing battens from a builders merchant for not a lot of money and make a small frame.
