manure on potatoes
« on: May 22, 2010, 19:01 »
Hi
I'm new to allotments.
My first earlies have surfaced and are looking good (I have earthed them up). I have just been given some really well rotted horse manure - it has the consistency of soil.
I was thinking of putting some on my pots. Is this a good idea? If it is, should I put it on the hill of the earthed pots or in the trench created by the side of each row ( I was advised to water them in the gulley to help the water get down to the roots).
any ideas?
thanks

Use it in the gullies, the goodness will get down to the spuds. :D
