Greenhouse staging
« on: March 28, 2010, 21:13 »
I got fed up with the cheap auiminium staging that collapses with the slightest bit of weight so i thought i would knock a more solid fixing up. As well as making a great stage it also strengthens the greenhouse with the dexion bolted to the frame. I also made it higher than usual to minimise any bending ;)

Thanks, i initially looked at B&Q for the dexion but they wanted £9 for a 2m length. I came across a local company called Murray Services (a shelving/storage company) based in seaton Deleval, who could supply the same if not better material second hand. In total i bought around 40m for £30 which i thought was a bargain. i bought 20 3" angle brackets from B&Q to attach the dexion to the frame of the greenhouse, they worked out at £25

You will have companies like this where you live, try googling ;)

Hope this helps.

Now that's a good idea... staging with a work surface that can be removed!

Makes extra storage space in the winter months for the (pointless non-edible garden's) "delicate plants", provides extra space for seedlings during the spring, and can be used as a sturdy frame work for toms to grow up during summer, (something I have been thinking about fixing for a while).

Hmmm, I have just found this autumns next project. I can't wait to see my Girlfriend roll her eyes when I tell her   :D

Like you. I was fed up of flimsy/wobbly staging.
I never thought of dexion, I just used 2" x 1" roofing lathes and designed mine so the legs folded enabling me to store it against the north wall when not in use.
