 :D

I've done a RGJ / cranberry, made a very light rose with a nice dryness to it. You will try some wont you? even if you don't like wine in general, you may like your own  ;)

Fill to just under the cap with boiled, cooled sugar water.  less air space the better.

Cheers,    Tony.

Because I have alcofrolic friends and family ;)  Actually, I can drink wine, but it is not my drink of choice... but if I have visitors I will drink with them, or i will take a bottle with me when I go out with friends.  Most of my friends are aware of my madcap gifts (eggs, fruit and veg etc) so they won't be surprised if I start bringing home made wine with me.

I also thought it would be a nice present at Christmas (whoops nearly!) in December.  My mum and my aunt and uncle drink a lot of wine, and I often take regional examples home with me for them to try... can't get much more regional than my kitchen lol!

Fill to just under the cap with boiled, cooled sugar water.  less air space the better.

Cheers,    Tony.

Once the fermentation has settled down, and it has been racked once I will.  At the moment if I top up now, it will blow out of the airlocks!  The foam is quite happily reaching the neck of the bottles right now ;)

If you can get cheap apple juice, try a turbo cider.  That will give you something you can drink within 6 weeks of starting.  Using flavoured syrups you can get several variations on the theme - raspberry (very nice), cherry (bottling this week) and blackcurrant (starting at the weekend).

Forgot to ask how you got on with that ... I've now got 2 bottles  :D was thinking of RJG / AJ and raspberry.

I'm only using the Łowicz syrups in TC, there's a hefty sugar content in them though.  With straight AJ plus raspberry and no additional sugar, my little spreadsheet gives the fermented dry potential at about 7.9%.  It's been christened Raspberry Falling Down Water, the problem being that it's just too easy to drink!  None of the cloying sweetness you can get with a bought fruit cider.

:D  And why not.  What's on offer then ?

Don't forget you'll need some bottles to put the finished article in... I've been buying fizzy water in 1ltr pet bottles as I'm paranoid about glass.

From left to right: WOW; WGJ + apple; RGJ + Apple/cranberry; RGJ + Pomegranate; RGJ + Pineapple/passionfruit; RGJ + Raspberry

So far I'm loving the smell of the raspberry the most

I have 75cl glass bottles on order, though I'm starting to save my 25cl stubbies for personal consumption/tasting/bottom of the barrel etc.

As part of my wine making kit, it came with a corker, and as much of a heathen as I am, I couldn't serve wine in a plastic bottle (even though you can easily buy it in plastic bottles lol).
