Title: cordless or petrol grass strimmer

Hi,

I'm looking for a cheap grass strimmer to keep the grass on the path next to my plot trimmed.
Needs to be battery or petrol powered as there isn't any electric power available at the allotment site.

Does anyone knows where I could find one?

B and Qand Homebase sell both petrol and battery strimmers, I got a bosch ART 23 battery powered one, it does the job ok . If you decide on a baatery one get one with a Lithion powered battery rather then Ni-cad as they last longer and you can top the power up with the charger rather then having to let it go completely flat as in the Ni-cad type.

If you need other tools as well you could check out the Ryobi One+ system.  It's 18v battery (and munches through them pretty quickly - maybe 15 mins per battery) but it uses the same batteries as the drill-driver, sander, jigsaw etc.  I've got 4 batteries total from tool purchases and that's plenty to do a full allotment, all paths, borders etc.

I use a bosch Accutrim battery operated strimmer...

1) because it was cheaper to buy
2) because having tried a petrol strimmer I found it too heavy to use for more than 10min
3) the handle length is adjustable (I'm 5' tall my Oh is 5' 11")

The battery only does half the area I need to cover so I hope to buy a spare battery for next year, other than that I'm very happy with it and don't have to worry about storing petrol in my shed
