Title: Quail Chicks
Post by: animal mad on June 30, 2010, 07:24
I have some quail chicks hatching out with my bantams at the moment and i am a little worried about there size. Does anyone brood chickens and quail together or would i be better off putting them in a seperate area. i know it seems a bit late in the day but i never expected them to hatch as they were sold as eating eggs it was just a bit of fun. i am really happy they have hatched and dont want them to be hurt.

I usually leave mine together as quail chicks hatch earlier than the bantams and grow a lot quicker, so by the time the bantams hatch the quails are nearly as big as them.

does this depend on breed, and hence size? some ickle quails are too tiny to be with hens, one clumsy step and oops. Other quail are almost banty size.
