Poor egg production
« on: June 17, 2010, 18:56 »
Hey All,

I started my chooks on antibiotics 4 weeks ago for what looked like a sinusitis/mycoplasma infection. Before the antibiotics they we're laying 2/3/4 eggs a day at the most. After 4 days of antibiotics (7 day course) we got 6/7 eggs per day (out of a potential 9 laying birds) and that carried on even a week after the antibiotics...of course we couldn't eat them! Its been a week after the withdrawal period and we are back to 2/3 eggs a day again. Do antibiotics boost the eggs production directly? Any ideas about what could be wrong with the hens not laying as many eggs?

Many Thanks once again!

I'm afraid I don't know the answer to your question but you could try Avipro plus which could help them after the antibiotics.  It might be worth a try.
