Celtboy I'm afraid that I have quite a few of those slimy creatures myself. Despite a lot of efforts and slug hunting at night they are still eating dome of my carrots!
Do not underestimate the therapeutic values of weeding!
1 dog, 2 children, 3 good reasons not to spread poison!

Slugs-How to get rid, or atleast put em off...Thats the plan
« Reply #4 on: April 24, 2007, 23:25 »
To erradicate Wireworms, Slugs, Caterpillars and Weevils. Chop 3oz (750g) of Garlic and mix with 2 teaspoons of Mineral Oil. Leave for 24 hours, then add a pint (500ml) of water in which 2 teaspoons of soft soap (washing up liquid works well) have been dissolved.. Strain into plastic container to store. To use - dissolve 1 part of this with 20 parts water (so it's strong stuff). Spray onto leaves of affected vegetables and soil around them....Good luck

What is mineral oil?
Sounds like a good mix!
Keep your mind sharp, but your hoe sharper.

The ones that are on their backs, are the ones that came out the slug pubs early, and just haven't managed to turn into slug yobs yet and destroy the surrounding foliage on the way home to the slug indoors and the adorable little slugglings.
