Title: A quiz question

I have just written a 20 questions quiz for WI about Sussex, with "ballard" answers.   I have now just done a tie-break question (just in case !).   So without looking this answer up (no cheating  :D)   Can you answer this:-  What year was the Mary Rose raised from the sea ?    Who knows, if you get it right, you may get a toffee.   :lol:   Mrs Bouquet

I'm going to guess 2004 because it would have taken ages to get it to a storage place, build the show area with its watering devices etc, and to arrange all the other artefacts before it was opened. I have the book but am not looking.

I think it was a lot earlier than that. My children were still in Primary school . I’m not sure my fourth was born but I still had a pram. So I think 1980s....early? 1983

1982 I think, that was the year I got divorced and weirdly, the 2 things seem to be together in my memory  :wacko:

"What year was the Mary Rose raised from the sea" ?   Being a bit of a pedant, do you mean the day the remains of the ship broke surface, or the day it was removed from the sea to go for preservation?

Recall watching it being raised on tv live and part of the lifting jig collapsing !

I asked what year !  was it raised  ?  And as somebody has just said, it was on the TV.    No cheating mind  :D

I think it was later than I think if you see what I mean so 2000?

 I think  '83  or '84.  I do remember it happening and Prince Charles being there.  I was still living on 'Big England' and I came here in '91 so before that.  I think it was in the late springl.

I have decided not to use that question now, because the part of the Solent where it was lying is really Hampshire, and of course it was raised there.   
My new question is:  When did the South Downs become fully operational as a National Park ?.  Mrs Bouquet

That was quite recent but can't recall the year.  Guessed at 1983 for the Mary Rose so was out by a year.
