Yesterday I opened an email with an attached PDF file, then I made a silly mistake by ticking the box so it would open with Microsoft Edge. Although I have that on my pc it won't allow me to open it. How do I change it back to what it was?
-
Do you have the option to download it to your computer.
-
Go to - Start
Settings
System
Then in the search box (find a setting) type Default and select Default Apps from the drop down menu
In there click on the MS Edge icon and it'll open a selection of apps, your usual one should be in there ready for you to select.
I had to do it the other day :)

Don't know what the previous one was and the PDF file is an attachment to an email on my pc. Tried doing what you said and keep getting message that my current security system won't allow it to open though they have before from the same sender. What do I do now?
-
Could you ask the sender re-send, maybe the file is actually compromised and your system is working in your favour.
Failing that, have you tried right clicking the attachment and select open with (not sure if you'll have to download it first). Maybe scan it again beforehand to be on the safe side.
If you do download and it still doesn't work change the name of the downloaded file and try again.

Thanks Blewitt. Think you're right about the file as I right-clicked it before and nowt worked. Fortunately I don't think it's important so am not going to bother anymore as other PDF files still have the red banner on them instead of this one which still has the MS Edge banner. BTW, are you possibly related to a Doctor Robert Blewitt who lives in Arnside and was a pathologist at Lancaster Infirmary, as I know him well and worked in the same Path Lab department.

'fraid not, Blewitt's not my real name :D

I thought Mr Blewitt was the elderly gentleman in Dad's Army, who complained that he had only brown turkey meat, so Pike swapped it for someone else's white meat...
And he was Young Mr Grace in 'Are you being served', so he got around a bit if he was also working in Lancaster!
