Sweet peppers and toms
« on: August 25, 2011, 16:25 »
Sweet peppers and Toms have just decided to show their faces and go red.  So they should be blushing, red, embarrassed, an' all being this late. 50 pepper plants and only two peppers ready.  They are in the open garden.  The only thing I can do is at the end of the season bring some indoors and see how they go.

Good job all from seed cos it would have cost a bomb in wasted bought young plants.

My sweet pea flowers have only just decided to flower as well.

It's been a very mixed up year weather wise and caused a lot of failures  :(

I have been picking some of my sweet pepper while they are still green - they have a lovely fresh flavour. They are from the greenhouse - I had some planted outside and they just did not grow at all so you are not alone SC.

My sweet peppers are a disaster this year too. But one variety I'm growing, Purple Beauty, is showing a single small pepper and from the very start of growing it's been purple. It didn't start out green and turn purple, the way most sweet peppers do. I've never come across a pepper variety that did that before, but I'm sure there must be some.
