BNS & Crown Prince
« on: April 25, 2011, 20:33 »
Hi I sowed my BNS and Crown Prince squash about 9 days ago and they are romping away.

Not really grown these before and I am surprised by their rapid growth, how long can I hold them in the pots for? It is too cool in the evenings to go on the plot for at least a week or two.
99% Organic and 1% Slug Pellets.

Allotment holder since 27th May 2007.

They aren't hardy, I think, so can't go out until after your last frost date.

They need to be closer to the window, and put a piece of foil behind them, in order to try to slow down their legginess.  I doubt they've filled those pots with their roots yet, so don't need potting on yet.
I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days all attack me at once...

Was thinking of moving them to my unheated G/House.
Will this help with the legginess?

Can't remember where you are (you can't see it when typing a reply!), but we are forecast frosts this week.  I suspect it might be too cold for them in the greenhouse (though would help the legginess).

I'll let others who have a greenhouse answer your question better.

Out for the day, back inside for night times if it's going to drop below 10C............tis a pain, but it works  ::)
