hi all cherry tree help please

I have two stella cherry trees that I planted in October which have leaves on the lower branches but nothing showing on the upper ones am I being impatient or is there something I need to do also do you think there is any chance of cherry's this year they are both about six foot high and three feet wide thank you

Are there leaf buds on the upper branches?

If so, just bide your time.

If not, well... I'd be very surprised as that would mean all those branches are dead.

 Seems very unlikey

Give the bark a scrape with your finger nail --- if it is green underneath, then the wood is still alive

oh dear not good news its upper branches have no sign of green so it looks like i will be having to cut out the centre but i will wait until the other branches are bigger and the sap is not flowing just in-case there is a late miracle thanks for your help

Any pruning of stone fruits should be done in summer, to minimise the risk of a disease whose name temporarily escapes me  ::) :)
