Title: Pasty recipes??
Post by: Ruth Cross on January 11, 2008, 14:57
I have just bought some pasty makers/cutters from the charity shop and going to try and make some over the weekend. The OH spends a fortune at the bakery so want to save some money.

Has anyone got any good recipes which includes making own pastry?
In particular I want to make some steak ones and some vege ones.
Tips on how to freeze them too please
 :)

Best pasties I ever made were filled with Chilli con Carne.  I'd made too much so mixed the rice in with the meat mixture. made up some shortcrust pastry popped them in and cooked til golden brown.

Ooh. forgot t mention, it's less messy to have the join at the top, quite often a side join will leak when being cooked.

Good tip, the cutters I've got make a flat join (if you know what I mean) but I'm sure with a little bit of fiddling I can make them sit upright
