Thanks to whoever suggested hanging up corn cobs in the run I've tied three on the wire this afternoon and now the girls have got the hang of it, they're having a great time Tasty snack and relieving boredom all in one go

We have just done the exact same thing! Tescos were doing a BOGOF deal on corn cobs and I am the only one in the house who likes them (loves them actually) there was no way I could eat 8 in a couple of days.
So the three chooks got one yesterday hung on a wire and another today. They have had loads of fun jumping to peck at it and it has provided exercise and amusement!
We drilled a hole through and hung it on a wire from the top of the run

I push a metal BBQ skewer into the end of the cob and hang the loop of the skewer onto the wire (easy)

have a drive round the horse suppliers and see who mhas em for sale in sacks £3 a sack they will last for ages in a dry shed
