Hi, we still haven't got our Silkies yet, but want to be prepared when we do next week.
Please could I have some advise on a few points;
1. Is 'Smite' the best choice for keeping away red-mite etc,?
2. Is it necessary to add grit or eggshell/oystershell to their food, if so, how much?
3. Is there really any difference between 'cider vinegar' and 'apple cider vinegar'? (as a brewer I know that cider is made from apples, so they should be the same!).

I use poultry shield inside my coups to prevent red mite.
grit and oyster shell should be available 24/7 and fed from their own little pot - not mixed with their feed.
Use the rough type of apple cider vinegar and not the purified cleened supermarket stuff (all the goodies have been removed from this )

Thanks joyful, I've just been to 'Cornwall Farmers' store and am bewildered by the diverse range of drink additives, sterilizers, food supplements, etc, Now off to 'Tucker's' to compare prices.  I take it that the grit used is the same stuff as the 'pieon grit' (in C.Farmers)?
Also; any advise on the best/most cost-effective wormer?
