Fly's in my duck house
« on: August 06, 2009, 19:09 »
My two 6 week old ducks moved in to their house just over two weeks ago.
I have recently noticed a number of fly's in their most of them very very small with the odd large one.
Although I have not cleaned the house out since they have lived in there its not that dirty as they dont get any food or water over night and I keep it shut during the day.
I am using a french version of hemcore as a base and the house is raised 20 inches from the group

Should I be concerned about the fly's or is it just normal? Do they pose any threat to the young ducks?

Fly's are never good, even though if they can ducks and chickens will eat them.  Perhaps try hanging some old fashioned fly paper for a week as you might just have been unlucky and had them hatching as the ducks went in, otherwise I would remove ducks and clean down shed. :)
