Title: Verbena Rigida
Post by: mumofstig on August 12, 2020, 14:42
Does anyone else grow this, have any experience of it?
It seems a weird plant and grows out at stupid angles, and after the first flush of flowers (they were pretty when the plants were smaller) about 6 weeks ago - I've had the occasional flower, but they really aren't earning their pot-space  ::)
When I cut the dead flowers off, the next pair of buds, each grows about a foot long and at nearly a 90' angle to the previous stem, before they even think about flowering again - as I said they're weird  ::)
As they were sticking out from the pots by a couple of feet, all round, I've just cut all the shoots back to see if that makes them flower again, a bit nearer to the pot.
Is there a knack to getting more flowers/keeping the plants under control, as these are greenhouse perennials I was hoping for better, at this rate they'll just get dumped at the end of summer :(

I have this in a container.   I dead-headed when necessary and new flower are appearing, but it looks ok to me.  I got fed up with the tall one and all the seedling thereafter  :D  Mrs Bouquet
