Thought people might be interested to know that you can currently () buy fruit trees in Lidl for £3.99 each, currant bushes in Wilkos for £1 each and apple trees in Wilkos for £5.00. Don't know what the quality is like though, I bought one of Wilkos currant bushes last year and it promptly died. Still, for a quid it's worth another try I reckon.

The big super-market beginning with T had fruit trees in stock today. They were slightly dearer than Lidl but looked in good nic. Plum trees included!

I bought a plum tree from "T..." last year and it took well. I dare say I will end up with an enormous white-elephant as it is unlikely that it was on dwarf root stock but we'll see .........in time

Does anyone know of a store that sells cheap string? I had bought a pack of four coloured rolls from Lidls the year before last but they appear not to have stocked any since then. :(
