Anyone tried paper shreddings as a mulch for strawberry plants or as general purpose mulch? ::)

I put them into compost. Wouldn't the winds just make rubbish of them anyway?

Do that then! What their value as mulch is, I do not really know. They are good dry addition to the compost for sure.

yeah your right gobs thats all i have used them for up till now, however values you will gain are weed supression and water retention much the same as straw i suppose.

I know where you are coming from gobs probably look untidy but i will give it a try this year in a small patch see how it fairs thanks!! :)

You can always lay down a thick layer of the shredded paper and then top it with a thin layer of straw which mats down nicely when wet. This way its not screaming I'M PAPER.
