Where are my borlotti beans?
« on: August 27, 2010, 20:10 »
Growing them for the first time and I have a lot of respectable length pods but they don't seem to have any beans inside them - very flat. They were planted directly into the ground in May (I think),  I watered when it was dry in June and fed with f/b/bone. As I'm in Lancashire its been wet since early July so they are not short of moisture to swell up.  Is there time left for beans to form? or is it now too late?. Would appreciate feedback from those who have grown them.

Yes, just leave them be until the pods start to fatten up. Plenty of time yet. Presuming that we get some sort of decent September that is....I was still picking beans off plants in Nov last year, after fleecing them and laying them flat on the ground - just waiting for the pods to dry off enough to save the beans.

Thanks.  I'll be patient and hope to get some fat beans!
