polytunnel cut flowers
« on: February 19, 2009, 17:04 »
can anyone suggest some species suitable as cut flowers that will come early in the polytunnel? we are a bit behind in the season anyway high up in north wales with dahlias and rudbeckias flowering late, end sept sometimes. i need preferably annuals. am trying sweet peas and annual sweet williams. i am digging in much muck for water retention but realise that many annuals prefer lower fertility (tho not sweet peas) and i dont want lots of leafy growth instead of flowers. i need flowers for mid-end june. for example, will antirrhinums come early or are they like many others daylight length dependant for flowering?
