I autumn planted some banana shallots. They are now showing lots of leaves, when I look down at the bulbs they aren’t very plump. A few have rotted at the bulbs. Should I withhold water a couple of weeks before harvesting to reduce risk of rot? Thanks for any advice.

I would normally harvest when the leaves go brown and die back.
As to withholding water I’m not sure? At present it’s pouring here so I wouldn’t have that option.

Agree with Hog, when most leaves have died back.  The last few years mine have been about a month after the garlic, early July time.  They did seem to bulk up quite late but you could give them a liquid feed.
