Flooding - contamination from diesel fuel
« on: June 21, 2020, 17:50 »
Our allotment plot was flooded in storms last week, and we've now learnt that someone had dumped diesel into the brook that overflowed onto all the plots. Yesterday we picked all the ripe strawberries, which were awful - tasted of the stuff.  Does this mean that everything is ruined and is there anything we can do to cleanse the soil?

Welcome to the forum  :) but oh how awful for you all :(

To be honest, this is probably a question for your local environmental health and/or the environment agency - it should be reported to them, I think.  Given the risks to health - or not - from this situation, I'm not sure any of us are qualified enough to offer a specific opinion that you could rely on.

I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days all attack me at once...
