Aspirin on plants
« on: October 09, 2017, 18:38 »
Hi I havwe read that spraying with an asprin solution helps with tomatoe and potatoe blight, the by product of this is to increase the taste of the fruit due to the increase in sugar levels put out by the plant
Can this soulution help improve other plants to produce better produce or am i barking up the wrong tree?

There is a recent thread on here about this.

http://chat.allotment-garden.org/index.php?topic=126759.0

It is not licenced for use on tomatoes or potatoes, but people can make their own minds up on whether to use it or not.  Spraying it on other crops may or may not make a difference.  It depends if their stress hormones are also of a similar chemical make up.

Personally I wouldn't be spraying even a dilute solution of aspirin around on absolutely everything.  There has been no research on whether it makes a difference, whether it is absorbed by plants or what effects it has on wildlife or soil chemistry.
