runner beans-white black seeds
« on: November 07, 2016, 19:26 »
Hi everyone, :D

we are breeding a rather large white runner bean on the allotment,it dries and stores well, but I have been too frightened to eat them. This year,we have a large box of white and a smaller box of black runner bean seeds.I crossed my large greek white beans with a heritage trail of tears tiny black runner bean.

Can we put them in soups and stews?

I can't be the first person who loves runner beans, grew too many to be able to eat them fresh and doesn't like them frozen.

Hope you can help xx

I've never heard of any crop bean that you can't eat the dried seeds of.  I don't grow runner beans, but I often leave french beans to make dried beans if there are too many of them.

If you cook them like kidney beans i.e. on a boil for 10 minutes, then reduce to a simmer, that is enough to destroy any possible harm in them  :)
