first new potato harvest

first harvest of the year,so excited as its the first time i tried it!
lady christl harvest from 2 30 litre pots of compost sown on the 27th of feb inside my polytunnel.
they were protected with old water bottles with the bottoms cut out in 2nd pic.
they tasted divine !  :D

The secret is to take a gamble and plant them earlier then be prepared to give them as much protection as you can. My first planting in the greenhouse this year was 22 Feb and I lifted the first lot last Sunday.

I plant up 4 or 5 tubs each week over a month so that if I lose some to hard frost I still have some in reserve. For three out of the last four years I've had new potatoes by the end of April.
