Noticed yesterday that a couple lof lettuces had been ravaged by little catterpillars, loads of them. Then found some on the peppers, and the foliage of the carrots have started taking a bashing. Anyone had similar to this, ways to control it?

My cabbages have been quite severely munched by caterpillars and I have found colonies of little ones on the underside of some leaves.  I've only myself to blame since I didn't take any precautions like protect them with enviromesh or anything.  I just collect the ones I can spot and feed them to the chickens but I doubt I'll get much edible cabbage this year.

I've never had caterpillars on carrots, what colour are they?

My cabbages in the garden had a few tiny ones, i just had a bit of a squishing session. Ewww hate doing it but they are not having my cabbage. They really need to go in the ground now when they will be de-bugged again and netted.

There seems to be two size groups, some smaller ones which are bright green, then bigger ones which are sort of grey. I squished a few and gave a good spray with some organic 2 in 1. It's only on the exhibition carrots too!
