SALT WATER FLOODING
« on: September 18, 2006, 10:02 »
What are the effects of temporary salt water flooding, the spring and autumn high tides flood our allotments, then recede fairly quickly. Our plots are about 5 miles upsteam from the sea. Any advice or tests i can do??? [/B] :?:

Not really able to offer any advice, but I would think that you should do well if you attempt to grow asparagus and any veg that might be related to sea kale.

Don't sheep have a superior flavour as roast lamb if they are grazed on salt marsh?
Gardening organically on chalky, stony soil.

Aplogies for my flippancy - I really have no idea how to answer you Q seriously.
Funny how we all have differing problems with our plots though.
Too wet, too dry, too sandy, too clay-ey etc etc
My main problem is wind ( no obvious jokes please ! ) even during July's heatwave there was a good breeze up there...but normall it's blustery and blowing things over.
