When we moved onto our place there were loads of old tractor tyres around the yard, so the obvious thing to do is?

My daughter grows her marrows in tyres and they grow better if I put a circular piece of polythene on top of the soil filling (tucked under the rim), as it gets quite warm inside and it helps keep the moisture in.

Heh Calli - why would anyone be discarding good tyres like that. They've got years of tread in them still

In some people's eyes, I am not truly Scottish. I come from Orkney which only became part of Scotland fairly recently. 1472 to be exact after Norway failed to make dowry payments following Princess Margaret's marriage to James III of Scotland.

So you're Norwegian WG :!:
We'll have to change your name - how about Arvid or Vegard

Odd might be the best Norwegian name for me. And my username would need to be aquavit_biathlon
Interestingly (or maybe not!), there is still a huge amount of Old Norwegian (Gamle Norske) words in the Orcadian and Shetland dialects. My brother went to Iceland on holiday & stayed at a B&B where the owners, unusually, spoke no English. He went for a walk with the old guy & could understand the Icelandic names for virtually every bird they saw.

So there's a bit of Norwegian in you WG. I won't ask which bit.
