Title: Tomato trees on the windowsill
Post by: New shoot on May 26, 2013, 07:04
Noticed this morning that my toms that are sitting on the bedroom windowsill have flower buds on them

Really must get them into the greenhouse but cold night predicted again tonight  ::)  Will have to wait until my day off on Tuesday I guess.  Can't risk my babies after cossetting them for so long  :)

I hardened mine off for a month ... MOS told me I was doing the spring time shuffle!  Anyway, after they started flowering and became to heavy to carry (potting on) i took the chance and left them in the GH (unheated) decided that if some tomato seeds can germinate and grow in the GH the adult plants would be OK that was a month ago (I have been covering them with feece on really cold nights) .... yesterday I have planted four into their final positions in the GH and the 6 that are planned for outside I have started taking them out the GH during the day and placing them where they will be going in the next 3 weeks.

Hope they will be ok ... June forecast is rubbish too!!

I checked my biggest 35 in the tunnel 2 weeks ago.  Even with cold nights, they all have new growth on.

I have 12 varieties of tomato and apart from raising in a heated propagator have been in an unheated greenhouse ever since. Doing very well, bushy and healthy.
