Hi just curious about my speckledy Rosa who is about 1 1/2 years old her tail recently has been moving from the left when she turns left and then to the right when she turns right? she is fine in every other way, from what I've read about wry tail its fused wonky and doesn't move like hers does all the time, she just seems to be using it like a rudder

I think you'll find that all hens generally do that - well mine always have anyway!

I have always assumed that it is a way of communicating to the rest of the flock which way they intend going.

I had a young bird with wry tail and it just pulled to one side.  It turned out to be a cockerel so I culled it as it is best not to breed from them.

thanks for the replies, my other hens don't move theirs, hers goes completely to the left and right, I am not going to breed from her so no worries then, maybe its a breed thing?
