Apart from potatoes and sweet corn that's my plan this year, if nothing else to keep the bleeping foxes off everything  :nowink:

We now have to protect sweet corn as the magpies pull it up.

Squirrels ate a load of mine as I had put a fence around to keep the foxes from knocking them over when they are playing on the plot. This year the fence will be removed once they are sturdy enough to resit fox play and once pollinated I intend to cover the cobs with pop bottles to stop anything having a munch before I can

I get deer eating my sweetcorn unless I put a chicken mesh fence and cover :(

This is the last of my leek crop dug up yesterday - obviously they have been trimmed, washed and also stripped of the damaged outer leaves, but I was actually pleasantly surprised as they weren't as unusable as some of the ones I harvested earlier in the winter, although that may have been partly due to me choosing the most unhappy looking specimens to examine first.

Only had to chuck one of the leeks as beyond salvation, and none of them had actually rotted off, which is what I was expecting to happen.

If you've never seen an allium leaf miner pupa this is what they look like, together with the brown tunnel it creates. It was the only one I actually found, despite the obvious damage - all the others have presumably gone forth to multiply!   :nowink:

Sow your seeds, plant your plants. What's the difference? A couple of weeks or more when answering possible queries!

One of the best things about being an orang-utan is the fact that you don't lose your good looks as you get older
