wrapping up tomatoes
« on: October 04, 2011, 11:19 »
Getting a little worried about the impending colder weather because I still have loads of green tomatoes on my plants (all outside).  What should I do with them, pick them and hope they ripen with a banana and sunlight, or wrap them in fleece to keep warm?  Was thinking the fleece may make condensation and incourage some fungal stuff to make the most of my tomatoes.
Help!!

In the past I have wrapped them up individually in tissue paper and kept them in a cardboard box along with a banana, keep checking them for any that go off.

Errrm.

I just wait until there's a danger of frost, pick 'em and just leave them in a bowl(s) in the kitchen. I'm afraid they don't get much molly coddling from me!
Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?
