I  have  dug  the     runner bean  row  out  put  shreded  paper in  and  kitcken waste   old  tea  bag  veg  cutting    junk  mail  lots  of it    then back  filled     one half   now waiting  for  the weekend  to  do  the   next  half  beans  in  greenhouse  waiting   till mid  May   before  planting   in  trench

Ok, dumb question time! What's the mechanics of this process? Dig a trench, line it with paper, backfill with soil on top of the paper and then plant your plants?
Hope you're all remembering to wet all this stuff before backfilling

Yes Mum.  :D

Haven't even sown my beans yet! You know they grow like triffids anyway. ;)

I doubt we'll need to worry about watering for a bit as we're heading into winter here. Had 3.1mm of rain recorded by our weather station yesterday and another .5mm this morning. Come next summer though, this'll be a very handy piece of information.

Well, thanks ALL plenty of food for thought! But what dimensions are we talking about here?

A rough idea of size for maximum effect? if you know what I mean.

And I'm a little confused and intrigued with  this "Climbing the cliffs of Moher in my sleep" biz. As, an ex climber, and I know the cliffs of Moher well! Had a strong moment there myself! Or is this an oblique reference to the perils of planting in the southern hemisphere?

Merely a reference to a) loving the Cliffs of Moher and b) having a dream about them a number of years ago after I'd come back from Ireland  :)
