hi again, a bit more advice please?  my molting hen is not eating at all.  ive tried everything, even the dog food and cat biscuits and nothing seems to interest her.  im running out of ideas, please help??

Apologies in advance for possible useless suggestions.....my broody would only eat tomato and natural yogurt when sat on eggs. Only thing that would tempt her to eat.....

What about split corn?

Starvation is one way of forcing a moult so it could be a (Excuse the pun) a chicken and egg situation. Is she moulting from stavation?  What does her comb look like?

birdlady are you getting your broody hen out of the nesting box?  You should do this twice a day.

she isnot starving but she eats very little compared to what she usually eats. her comb is quite flat and not as red as usual, its a dull reddy pink colour. funilly enough the only thing she is eating is tomato. i'll just have to persevere and hope shes getting enough to see her through!

as for my broody one - all day ytd i did not let her into the coop as it was a lovely day.  she didnt appear to make her funny little noise and fluff her feathers as much and she actually had a sand bath, so, im doing the same today.............
