further info on my hen any suggestions as to what is wrong would be very welcome as really worried about her now, think might have to go to vet

she has now this morning got a messy rear the colour is yolk colour she is very quiet although she is walking around and eating bits, she will close her eyes and not move

Could it be a soft egg broken inside her or is it frothy poo?

I have felt her and there doesnt seem to be a stuck or broken egg, the poo isnt frothy but it is yolk colour so I am thinking now maybe it was broken and she has an infection

Something similar to this has happened to two of my hens which were both ex battery. When we took them to the vets we found they had tumours and made the decision to put them to sleep. I am sorry for telling you this but I really wish someone had told me about it when my girls were poorly. Hopefully this will not be the case for you. I will keep my fingers crossed for your girl. KimT was wondering the same thing - as she has been acting "broody" recently. Possibly has been eggbound?
I have never had this problem with any of my hens though -perhaps some of the more experienced guys can help you .If it was me I would try and find a vet who has experience of dealing with poultry.
