Title: Potato....splashes of purple
Post by: shay on August 02, 2009, 21:52
One of my not yet flowering potato's was very sorry for itself to the point it looked like it was dying so dug it up to see what was happening, had pots the size of new potatoes which I dont mind as the kids seem to embrace them more than big spuds however they all had little bits of purple/pink on them, I take it this is not good but does anybody know what this could be?

Some types of potatoes have pinky/red patches on the skin (i.e. King Edwards) do you know what type they are?

There are varieties which have coloured bits on their skin, could just be that you got a rogue tuber.

I'd cut it open, see what it looks like inside, and if it looks ok I'd go for it

Or you could post us a piccie to be sure if you prefer
