Thanks.  I have four bulbs and was planning on planting on saturday (weather permitting).  So I guess I may get some garlic at the end of the season, but not as big as they could be???

Certainly not too late.

I only ever plant mine end of March, early April and I always get a great crop.

Mind you that might have something to do with it not warming up here in North Yorkshire 'till May

I've just planted out garlic bulbs after starting them off first in seed trays. I was wondering if they could be left in until NEXT spring to get bigger results.
Still glowing, still growing, still going strong!

I'd dig them up after they die back in later July and see just what you've got since you started them early. Clear your site, manure and replant in fall for the 'big' crop.

Thanks, Trillium. That makes better sense. I did think after posting the question that they'd go to seed if I left them in! And what an encouragement, Vegmandan - are you sure that hasn't been digitally enhanced  :D  :D

Don't forget to split them into cloves if and when you do plant them...
Growing salad leaves isn't rocket science.
