Yes, plain roasted (skin on).  Then peel & take with a little salt.

take of the skin and give them to the chichens - they love them - well the ones up our woods do - and there's alot of chestnut moth this year - so lots of grubs in them  :lol:

cut a cross in the shell with a very sharp knife before you roast em,makes peeling them that much easier
feed the soil not the plants

mmm put some little nicks in the skins with a knife and then roast on the fire (either on a coal shovel or proper chestnut roaster) -- lovely!!!

there was a little old man in birmingham who used to sell bags of them from a little oven on the street -- one of my favourite 'english' memories!! (he used sell bags of small baked potatoes too)
