Man-Eating Chook
« on: January 14, 2010, 23:08 »
I have a stalker.

Was cleaning out today and wherever I went, I looked out the corner of my eye and there she was.  Watching me.

Then she pecked my arm, and eventually got so close I was afraid for my eyesight  :D  She was stretched as far as a chook's neck can stretch, and either was going to have my eyes out or jump on my back.

Joking aside, is this normal?  Is she just sussing me out or can they get nasty?

One of mine follows me around the garden especially if I start digging things up, I had a forkful of soil the other day and she was ontop of it before I had finished and ended up lifting her up with the soil.  she seemed to love it as did it again several times although I have to watch I dont get the fork in her as shes so quick.

I used to have two drakes that would peck my lip if I was not careful. I'm sure they thought they were fat worms.

I do sometimes worry they'll peck my eyes if they get too close!

I've one who always pecks at fleeces, the others are OK except when hand feeding them when it is surprising just how much finger they can get into their beaks!

 :) Hi All
Must admit I can't wait for the summer again, one of my girls would always jump on my arm or back during feeding & cleaning time and sit there rosey away trying to teach me to speak proper chicken ::). I've even got a picture of her on my phone as a screen saver :D.

Best Regards

as for your man-eating chook, I think she is desperately trying to tell you something, and you are not obliging! talk to her....they love being talked to and clucked at...and fed treats   ::)
